Department of TELUGU

About Department

The department of Telugu was coeval with the college and was established in the year 1977, with one post for lecturer. The main objective of establishing the department was enriching the local language through educating the students and training them in learning and using the native language with the thorough knowledge of its nuances and its beauty.

Presently Dr.K.V.Shantha Kumari is working in the department since December 2011. She has been taking the department forward by organizing various programmes for the benefit of the students while executing her additional duties as Coordinator of Women Empowerment Cell & Jawahar Knowledge Centre, President of Literary Club and being in charge of Cultural Club.

In her leadership the department has organized an International Work Shop and a National Seminar in the present year. The department has conducted Telugu Type Writing course (Anu7 and PageMaker) as a Certificate course two times in 2018 and 2022 .The students who completed the course brought out two books namely ‘Telugu Netthaavi -1’Batch-1(29-08-2018)’ and ‘Telugu Netthaavi-2’ Batch-2(29-08-2022). The department plays a vital role in all activities of the college, especially in the preparation of college magazine. Another outstanding achievement of the department is the survey projects entrusted to the students. The students are encouraged to take up survey on local issues and write report on their own. So far six projects were taken up, while five of them were completed. They are.

  1. Telugu writers from Diviseema
  2. Kuchipudi Dance and Kuchipudi village
  3. Temples in Diviseema (Island Area)
  4. Famous Libraries
  5. Inscriptions available in Diviseema
  6. Uniqueness of Diviseema (On going)

The most glaring feather in the cap of the department is ‘Diviseema Diviteelu’, a hand written magazine run by the students under the guidance of the Telugu lecturer which has been published since January, 2022. Every month the Magazine is released with a separate theme. The soft copies of this handwritten magazine are circulated not only among students group, but also among many circles of the learned colleagues and have received commendations from many honorable persons like Vice Chancellor of Krishna University, RJDCE, Rajamahendravaram and finally from the Commissioner Of Collegiate Education.

In brief these are the characteristic features of the department of Telugu.
